During the hot summer months, just a sheet may be enough. The cassettes ensure that enough air can be absorbed which is warmed by your own body temperature. A real down usually does not need to be washed, but should you wish to do so, follow the washing instructions carefully and then put it in the dryer with a few (tennis) balls, these will loosen the filling well.
